The company was successfully launched in 1998 and since then has provided tour operators, federations, agencies, sponsors, corporates and media a full range of travel services to all of the major sporting events globally. In 2013, as part of the growth plan for the business AKA Sports & Events was acquired by the Tourvest Group – the largest travel company in the Southern Hemisphere, to spearhead its European strategy in the Sports travel sector. AKA now works within the TEAM Destination Management Global division of Tourvest, headed up by Danny Talbot. Working from its London base it now joins a network of TEAM DMC offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Paris, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rio de Janeiro & Tokyo.
